Training

Lyra studies with Patsy Rodenburg OBE, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London UK and the preeminent Shakespeare coach in the world today, and is one of only 30 people in the world to hold the prestigious RRT (Registered Rodenburg Teacher) Master Teacher Certification in Movement/Voice.  Ms. Rodenburg’s Second Circle methodology is centered on body-breath-voice, focusing on the mind/body connection to allow freedom of vocal and physical expression to actors, singers, and presenters/speakers in the corporate and political worlds.  Lyra was chosen as a certification candidate by Ms. Rodenburg precisely because of her experience and expertise in the performing arts as a dancer, singer, and musician, her extensive Pilates and related movement methodology study and training, and her successful integration of these transformational, informed, focused methods of movement that facilitate positive change in body, mind and spirit,  bringing craft and expertise to her work as a Movement/Voice Director.  She is also eligible for Level 3 Intimacy Director certification training with IDC.

Approach

“Teaching through the lens of this work begins with learning to harness the energy of the body, breath, voice, mind, heart, and spirit…presence…the universal energy that unites us all. It begins with the framework of body – breath – voice and builds thro to the embodiment of the text while staying fully present, inventing in the moment. This approach, created through hard work, craft, and mastery of technique, produces a transformative performance. Each step entails theory and practice, freedom in mind and body, and embracing being emotionally fearless. The work brings versatility, confidence, and practical application both on and off the stage or behind the mic, as a speaker, presenter, teacher, leader… and perhaps more importantly in this day and age of profound disconnection and miscommunication, brings back presence in dialogue, listening, and reflection.”
